 President's welcome

Welcome to the South Wisconsin District website! Our mission in South Wisconsin is to "connect, resource, and equip God’s people for bold witness to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus."

Whether you are looking for specific information or merely surfing the web, we pray that you are blessed by your time with us on this site.

There are a couple of Scripture passages that I encourage you to think about as you read through the information on this website. They are passages that define who we are as Missouri Synod Lutherans:

  • 1 Peter 2:9, "You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
  • Philippians 1:4-6, "In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
  • Jude 1:22-23, "Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them."

May our Lord bless you with his forgiveness and with opportunities for "bold witness to the Gospel!"

Rev. John C. Wille, President
South Wisconsin District—LCMS

Spring pastor's conference April 20-22, 2009
The 2009 South Wisconsin District Spring pastors' conference will be held at the Lake Geneva Grand Resort from April 20-22, 2009. The theme is "Christ Have Mercy: How to Put Your Faith into Action."  The main presenter will be Rev. Matthew Harrison, director of LCMS World Relief and Human Care. Other highlights will be a Bible study on Luke 24:36-49 and an exegetical study on marriage, and pastoral practice toward couples living together led by Rev. Don Stein. There will be a panel discussion on synodical restructuring.
Mission planting opportunities
All congregational pastors with e-mail accessibility were sent a letter (PDF) by e-mail attachment in November regarding mission opportunities for ministry starts in their church/community. This letter will be sent out by postal mail as well. Please give this your prayerful consideration together with your congregational leadership. We are looking for feedback from you in January.
