Summary of the board of directors meeting
The South Wisconsin District of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod
Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009

In action, the board: 

• approved the minutes of the Aug. 22, 2009 meeting of the South Wisconsin District board of directors
• approved the amended constitutions and bylaws of Good Shepherd, Pleasant Prairie; Hope, Fond du Lac;  Our Savior, Janesville; and  St. Peter, Waterford
• adopted the SWD 2010 budget, exclusive of Camp LuWiSoMo
• instructed the SWD district president to appoint a task force to make a recommendation concerning the future of Camp LuWiSoMo and to report to the board by the May 2010 meeting
• requested the resignation of Terry Schmeckpeper and if not tendered hereby terminates his call with cause. President Wille was authorized to negotiate a severance package of no more than 3 months.

The board received reports from:

• President Wille highlighting:
  • suspension of Camp LuWiSoMo activities
  • progress on school superintendent call process
  • 2010 Synod convention and pre-convention meeting
• Rev. Dan McMiller, highlighting:
  • concerns regarding ongoing funding of District mission and ministry
  • new funding models – grants, foundations, direct support
  • new partnership with Concordia University Wisconsin for ongoing theological education
  • new models for ministry and training of workers
• Ralph Klevenow, specifically:
  • report of summary of congregational remittances
  • congregational financial report
  • SWD balance sheet
  • SWD statement of activities
  • departmental expense analysis
  • LuWiSoMo balance sheet
  • LuWiSoMo income/expense vs. budget
• Tim Dittloff presented the printed report of LCEF and the report of stewardship activities
• The board received the written reports of Rev. Harald Tomesch, Gene Ladendorf and Chuck Kiehl
